I’d rather have a chocolate iPhone

Got this clip via makeuseof – a site I recommend you visit and subscribe to if you like to keep updated on all current technology news. The family in the video has a good sense of humour and Grandma is priceless. Pity the people commenting under the video on YouTube can’t be blocked. The clip has had over a million views and no one should have to put up with the nasties popularity invites on shared channels. The video is sweet and harmless. The comments are way out of line and change a PG video into another matter. Pity, because it’s a great little video.

I’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and season’s greetings. I am appreciative of your support and encouragement over another year. Enjoy the end of year festivities with your friends and family.

Log into the North Pole

North PoleAs with everything else these days you can now go high tech with Santa and log into the North Pole. Once you have your account you have access to plenty of Christmas resources for your classroom and for your students. Adults and children can log in too so you can find activities and ideas for at home. It is a site with education support but a site for anyone who wants some good Christmas resources. I like the Elf Pal Academy!

Santa site

SantaSantaGames has a wide collection of activities and offerings centred around Christmas. It has a virtual workshop, e-cards, things to make, songs, games, stories and much more. Plenty of ideas to keep small people happy and maybe even inspire you too.

Costing the 12 days of Christmas

So many of us know and have sung this song to the point there are now so many versions and parodies. But how much do the 12 days of Christmas actually cost? USA today has costed it with a really interesting graphic. It would be a fun end of year activity for some students to practise their research , numeracy and graphic skills. I have done similar sorts of things in class to create an authentic learning exercise and students have always loved it. You could do the super-duper , high-end , very expensive version or the shoestring budget one. I have found from an activity like this that some students are naturally good at finding bargains and top prices and others just know how to create a star-studded , luxurious event. They enjoy talking about it and sharing their findings. It is a good way to train them to source their information properly and cite their sources. It would be also interesting to know whether online purchasing would be better than sourcing the items locally. 7 swans
