Mobile Phone WhiteBoard app

WhiteBoard app4DSoftTech has a free WhiteBoard app which is so easy to use on a mobile phone. I would not even have considered a WhiteBoard app as an option on my phone but this one has good functionality and is easy to use.KidsBoard I actually like the KidsBoard. I think it is wrongly named! I use this aspect of WhiteBoard a lot because there are so many good features if you want to put something together. The WhiteBoard site explains very clearly what it can do and gives some good visual information as well. It is exclusively an Android app at this stage. There are other apps on their site you might like to investigate.

Chatterpix gets them talking

Chatterpix This app is free and funny. Great for oral language development. Chatterpix is very kiddie but I don’t think it would deter adults or older students from using it because it is fun .It’s an easy to use, non-threatening app which offers support as you go along. You take a photo, you can draw on a mouth which will then have 30 seconds of speech time, you can embellish the picture and add text and then you save it. It can be shared or imported into iMovie, Loopster, the online YouTube editor or any other movie making software. This way you can incorporate it into something bigger or make a montage of several of the Chatterpix. It’s a great way for anyone to improve oral skills confidence and competence and for students learning a language it is just perfect. It is also the sort of app which will encourage the shy ones to talk.

A beautiful app for the littlies

Barefoot World Atlas If this is an example of what we really can achieve with apps when we want to – bring it on. I got my copy free from the app store at Apple because they are offering it  as part of their 5 year celebration. There is something special about this app and so it is a fitting celebratory app. Full price I believe it’s 4.99 but I’d pay that if I were teaching young children or had young children at home. From the moment it opens it is very visual. It has a spinning globe and you can navigate to or search for any place in the world. It offers real pictures as well as some good animations and cartoons. The content is clear and spoken clearly. It would be a good app for those learning English as well. I’d like to think, in time, it would be offered on different languages because it is a very good interactive learning app and the visual and kinetic appeal would make it very successful. I heard of it through the Language Resource Centres Daily, a paper.li well worth subscribing to if you are interested in languages and linguistic development. There is a review of it here on the abcnews site. The Barefoot Books site offers other information and then access to their other titles.
