Back up Thunderbird profile

appdata Thunderbird1. Press windows key and then  r

2. Type %appdata%  in the run box and press enter key .

3. You will come to this screen.

4. Scroll down and find Thunderbird.

5. Double click on it.

Thunderbird profile This screen will then open. Copy the Profiles folder to the desktop. From there you can save it to elsewhere. I keep a copy on my computer and a copy on my backup drive. Until now I have never had to use it but the updates with Windows 8.1 have destabilised my computer. One day I came onto my desktop computer and Thunderbird had been reinstalled. You could not imagine these sorts of things happening but they do now. It meant all my emails and contacts were gone. I set up my account again and then found my profile back up. I removed the Profile folder and replaced it with my back up one. Problem solved without boxes of tissues.
