New look for an old pastime. Animation Chefs is a great site for schools , students and families. It has some really creative ideas for iPad/tablet/smart phone use – any device with a front facing camera and a video app. As an adolescents we used to cut up lots of paper, bind it with a rubber band, painstakingly draw figures or images with a slight change from one page to the next. When finished we’d flick through the book and there were these little animations which came to life. We called them flick books and this video shows how to make the 21st century version of that with an iPad. The Animation Chefs site is worth exploring for ideas so that young people learn to use their devices to create and produce as well as just consume. The video is very lively and gives a really good idea as to how you can create something which is fun but could be used for other purposes. You do not know what until you engage your brain and stretch it.
