Terrible tech days

bad tech day

Crying seems like a good idea

So what do you do when computers, devices and connections are having an attack of the terrible twos? A bad tech day is dealt with in the same way as a bad hair day. You just have to live with it and wait for the change. There is no explaining sometimes why your hair or your computer can’t get it together. Nothing like burning a disk and having your car TELL you Invalid CD! So you find out your computer burnt desktop settings onto it and your car doesn’t like that. You can’t get onto your gaming site so you pull out your tablet to do something else and find the battery has decided to be flat. But I only just charged that!! There is no explaining it. I know, I’ll go to this site. Oh no you won’t Time Out error. I was watching a colleague at work because I was asked to and all that happened was one dud screen after another. They were all system things but they all came up at that point in time and it was intimidating. As I talked the person through the screens they became more confident and could see what to click. While they were all coming up it was off putting and confusing. You always get a run of bad tech. Laptop won’t charge, computer hangs, the rainbow wheel of death pops up every five minutes. What do you do? I ignore it and use another device or computer. I change my activity or I go on a site like Livebinders or make a slide presentation or video because I know that will take my mind off the negatives and stop me from running into more things which won’t work. If I have to, I’ll shut everything off and walk away and do things without technology. Time out in all senses of the expression. Amazingly the passage of time or switching to a time consuming, single activity will stop the stuff and nonsense. If it doesn’t, the break will enable me to find the work arounds. Engaging with flouncy technology is wearing!
