Green Film Festival

I am glad to hear at least one prestigious film festival is highlighting the green theme. Tokyo’s film festival this year has a green carpet and all the films will be shown with energy generated by wind. The Sakura Grand Prix will be announced on October 26th. What an enlightened approach to cinema. We really need to be able to have high quality green films to keep the message out there and film directors have the capacity to have far ranging impact when they are good enough. We need to keep this at the top of the agenda because unless we deal with the green issues there will be no other issues we need worry about. A healthy planet is something we seem loathe to create and no matter who tells us, we are still pretending it will go away. Every single person has to change now. Not tomorrow. Now. Our lifestyle is killing us and we seem to be the only species which is happy to wipe out other species and our own. I really do wonder why we call ourselves intelligent. Maybe one of the 15 films being shown will get through to the planet. It is really remarkable the whole festival is living what it is encouraging.
