Barack Obama

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Ri...Image via WikipediaThe world is changing and we need to be looking at new leadership models to fit in with our changes. People are far more open and want to connect. From where we sit, Barack Obama is someone we can relate to. He is human, he is engaging and he talks a lot of sense. He is not cobwebby and dusty. America does need to create a friendlier international face which other countries feel they can deal with. We want a world where we can all negotiate. We want a world where we can discuss , debate and participate as equals. There will always be a dominant culture like there is always a person who dominates a group, but we want to co operate as nations. We are so over the adversarial stance and Barack Obama is able to build relationships just by being himself and that is so important. He has international appeal. He is someone we feel we’d like to meet. He is capable of identifying and relating to so many people and it is his easy manner and his optimistic approach which we find refreshing. He is not full of platitudes and well worn turns of phrase. he is dynamic and he appears to represent the sort of person we would like to know. For America at this point in time that is a crucial point in his favour.

Brangelina

I love the name Brangelina because the two of them are inseparable. They have good looks, charm, style, wit , enormous talent and have worked ceaselessly to make the world a better place. The brand name Brangelina stands for so much which is good. The the pair of them seem to be dedicated to the cause of making the world a better place. It goes more than skin deep and is well thought out. They have targeted people and places with the help they need but they have also made a conscious decision as parents to influence their children in a good way. They want to inspire their children to look outside themselves and be part of a positive world where they have the power to make a difference. It’s real commitment, real help and real thought. They are people we can look up to and admire…but we can also follow in their footsteps. Right now they are opening a clinic in the country Zahara was born in the hope she will feel linked to it and thereby motivated to carry on their work. It really will be interesting to see whether this kind of role modeling works.

Financial Crisis

Marina Del Rey, Califo...Image via WikipediaOur money situation just didn’t happen just like that. It’s important to respond and not react. It’s going up, down and all over the place. The great outcome of this is that people are pooling their thinking resources and some really interesting views and explanations are being heard. Radio stations and the Net are coming into their own as they share news and views very quickly and effectively. We are really very fortunate to have an ageing population because they have a wealth of knowledge and experience on which to base some interpretations of this market. Then we have some real whizz kids out there who understand how the new terms and ideas work and can interpret that for us. The big plus of this situation is there is no generation gap. The age groups are working together harmoniously to bring some sense and sanity into all of this. Firstly it brings us information. Secondly it is bringing us strategies and thirdly it is getting so many people to think better about the current situation. The whole world is online and we are able to share our views , knowledge and experience. We are able to get information quickly and then there are people who are showing us what to do with that information. Money crises are not a bit fun and people are tearing their hair out. We just need to have confidence in our connectivity so that international experts can help us sort through this in a more comfortable way.It really is a challenge and it’s a test of whether we actually have sufficient knowledge and know how to competently steer the global markets! The good news is there is plenty of good information out there to help you sort through any decisions you might have to make.
